Muchas veces las oportunidades de diseño se encuentran alrededor nuestro en las prácticas más mundanas y suelen pasar desapercibidas. La constante búsqueda de la innovación ha cerrado nuestro panorama al campo de la tecnología electrónica y de software, haciéndose impensable desarrollar un producto que no utilice pantallas táctiles o apps para smartphones. Sin embargo, existen hoy sectores de la sociedad en que la resolución de sus problemas no se consiguen con el implemento de una computadora o de servicios electrónicos.
El carrito para cartoneros presentado hace pocos días en Argentina es un claro ejemplo de diseño social. Donde se aborda el problema de un determinado sector de la comunidad; los cartoneros. Mediante el cuál se busca mejorar las condiciones de trabajo y facilitar la integración de la actividad a la sociedad.
Analicemos como una aportación de diseño se convierte en una tercera opción a problemas sociales. En este caso existen dos planteamientos que necesitan resolverse desde dos posturas opuestas:
A) Los cartoneros tienen por fuente de ingreso la recolecta de residuos, actividad de riesgos ergonómicos que afectan la salud de la persona.
B) La imagen que refleja el aspecto de los cartonero es motivo de queja de la población y contamina visualmente el paisaje urbano.
Cada una de estas situaciones puede ser resuelta de manera eficaz a través de medios de legislación o regularización. Pero el dar solución a uno implica la afectación del otro, así que la interrogante es ¿cómo llegar a un punto mediador?
Mediante el diseño de un carrito especializado para la labor de los cartoneros que les permite una sencilla manipulación de este para desplazarse por la ciudad y que además es plegable para una fácil transportación, se soluciona la problemática que tiene que ver con el usuario directo. Además el diseño da un aspecto visual agradable resolviendo de esta manera la problemática del mal aspecto en las calles.
Considerando a los usuarios involucrados tanto como el entorno y analizando un poco más las situaciones que requieren diseño, puede encontrarse una solución alternativa que va más allá de las ideas obvias. Teniendo en mente que la innovación esta más allá del uso de apps, especialmente cuando de diseño social se trata.
